Enjoy Your Child or Do Something About It

What a joy it was to see so many of you at BASS. Thank you for attending my workshops. Thanks also to those who made an effort of saying hello in e-mail or in-person. I understand not everyone speak Cantonese, and appreciate your interest in Mandarin and English!

Like most of you, I have a busy life. Unlike most of you who still have children at home, James and I are empty nesters since 2001. When our son, his wife and two kids lived with us for a couple of months, I was reminded of what young couples are going through day in and day out. It is not easy but I know you are trying your best to balance family, work and church. Don’t forget to take care of yourself instead of stressing yourself out.

Transitions mean changes. Each life stage has its best and worst moments. It is our expectation and assumption of self, others and God that might get us into trouble. While parents love their children their whole life, we may not easily show our love. Okay, it is easy to express love when they are cute and cuddly and obedient, but how about when they are not? Do you sometimes not listen, complain, criticize, and nag them?

Psalm 127:3 says, “Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him.” How well do you enjoy your children or teenagers as they grow?

For each child you cannot enjoy, I challenge you to take a piece of paper and fold it into two halves. On half of the page, list all the things you like about that child (could be a teenager or even a grown child) from the day that he/she was born. On the other side, list all the things you don’t like about him/her now. Write and let me know what you’ve discovered through this simple exercise.

Some of you may say, “Enjoy them? You don’t know my child (or teenager)!”

Frustrated? Would you like my help turning your child’s bad behavior around? If you have tried everything and haven’t been able to completely get the respect and great behavior from your child that you deserve and you’d like to turn this situation around once and for all then I’d like to help you do it.

For a limited time, I’m offering a special zero cost "Demons to Angels Coaching Session". During this powerful 30 minute coaching session we’ll work together to:
